Miguel‘s family is originally from the states of Chihuahua and Durango, Mexico. His father worked as a laborer for over 40 years and his mother raised a family of four children. Miguel graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2006 with a BA in Latin American Studies/Communications and with his Masters in Education in 2016. Lexi (she,her) is stepping into a newly created position as the Berkeley Hope Scholars Satellite Counselor in partnership with the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Lexi Session is a licensed clinical social worker. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cal State University, Fullerton, and her MSW from San Jose State University’s School of Social Work. Since 2018, she has worked with and supported families involved in the Child Welfare, Probation, and Adoption systems.
Rebeca Borges, (she/her) is a UC Berkeley alumni and former Berkeley Hope Scholar. Drawing upon her own journey as a beneficiary of the program, Rebeca brings a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by former foster youth and independent students in higher education.
