Charly King Beavers (she, her) is a compassionate and experienced college student services professional here at UC Berkeley, where she supports current and former foster youth and child welfare system involved students through her leadership of the Berkeley Hope Scholars program. She has over fifteen years of experience serving foster youth as an academic counselor, education advocate, and mental health therapist, as well as more than a decade working in higher education with historically underserved student communities.
Orphaned at the age of three and raised in kinship foster care in the Bay Area, Charly brings both professional expertise and personal lived experience to her work, along with a deep commitment to fostering interdependence, belonging, and student leadership.
She is especially passionate about creating spaces that lift up the voices of foster youth and center their experiences in shaping the systems meant to support them. Outside of work, Charly enjoys volunteering, catching live music shows, and connecting with community through art and culture.
