The BHS Emegency Fund provides financial assistance to students facing unexpected, non-reccuring financial hardship that impacts their basis needs or academic success

Basic Needs Center (BNC): The Basic Needs Center at UC Berkeley supports student belonging and well-being through both emergency relief and long-term services. Their holistic approach centers food, housing, and financial security.

Greater Community Food Pantries and Resources

Student Technology Equity Program (STEP): The Student Technology Equity Program provides long-term loans of technology hardware (laptops, iclickers, headphones, etc.) to undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Eligibility is determined based on financial need and instructional role (e.g. GSI/UGSI).

Library Technology Lending Program: The Library lending program is available to registered UC Berkeley students

Eligibility Criteria

Unexpected: The expense was not planned or anticipated due to unforseen events/emergencies (e.g medical emergencies, sudden housing issues)

Non-Recurring: One-time financial hardship. A specific type of request can only be made once

Financial Hardship: The situation presents a signifigant hardship or instability (e.g. risk of eviction, medical crisis, food insercuirty)
